Here’s another song from the album, Inside The Heart. WOMAN is about an old girlfriend whose love started to shine the more I got to know her. This was the first song I ever recorded. It was produced by Rob Spence for our album INSIDE THE HEART. Rob also played the instrumental tracks. The artwork is by Dawn Meader. Sindhu Dobree and Teresa Mclleland sung backing harmonies.

Synopsis – Well Done, Those Men attempts to make sense of what Vietnam did to the soldiers who fought there. It deals with the comic absurdity of their military training and the horror of the war they fought, and is unforgettably moving in recounting what happened to Barry and his comrades when they returned home to Australia.

The book has been shortlisted for an award in Australia’s National Year of Reading, 2012. I would appreciate it if you would vote for Barry. All you have to do is click on the link and click the vote box next to Barry’s book which is at the bottom of the page.

http://www.abc.net.au/arts/yearofreading/vic.htm

And if you get the chance to read the book, you will be amazed at the power of the story and yes, you will cry!

Many thanks

Martin

Hi Everyone

The winter season has descended upon us in Perth and people are starting to go the chemists for cold and flu tablets. Have another round of rehearsals this week with my choirs and my trio called Good Company. Each rehearsal just gets better and better as the singers give their all. I really admire their tenacity. My good friend Hollice Rundle has been creating some drawings for my next story – 24 Carrots and I’ll soon be able to share. Charlie-Moon has been studying and practicing his singing. One day, we’ll do something to gether but at the moment he doesn’t want to sing with an old fogey. This week’s video is of me sitting in my lounge (while the washing machine is going mad in the background) singing a song to my mother, written just before she passed away in 2009. It’s called, Across The Sea and the lyrics are below. Very best wishes, Martin.

Hi Everyone,

I’m coming towards the end of the first draft of my second book in The Charlie & Moon series. Also finished a short story called 24 Carrots – looks at the effect banks have on our lives and how a creative family overcomes the bank’s greedy approach to a community.

The Born To Sing & Sing From The Heart Choirs are going really well and I’ll be doing a concert on 2nd July with my group Good Company at the Macnuts Nuthouse Concerts in Baldivis, Western Australia. Born To Sing Rockingham will be joining us. Sing From The Heart & Born To Sing North Perth will also be performing in another concert soon.

This week sees my good friends Deb Saville & Lindsay Breach head off to work in Darwin for three weeks.

Charlie-Moon decided he didn’t want his X-Box anynore so he sold it and he aslo asked that we rid ourselves of the idiot box so he could concentrate more on his singing. So we no longer have a TV in the house and we are reading and singing a lot more.

And here’s Charlie-Moon – he’s just posted another of his tracks on Youtube. Check it out.
