sing from the heart

Martin Meader is the Musical Director of three community choirs called SING FROM THE HEART.
The Sing From The Heart Choirs are based in Perth, Western Australia and are open to anyone who would like to sing, even those who think, or have been told, that they can't. Singing has been recognized as a powerful medium for freeing the frustrations of everyday life, releasing tensions and generally uplifting the spirit!

Sing From The Heart members almost without exception have reported an increase in their general well-being since they joined the group, and at the very least have had a wonderful time and met new friends. Prior experience or the ability to read music is not necessary. The only pre-requisite is to come along with an open mind and heart, ready to enjoy yourself. The Sing From The Heart repertoire ranges from gospel to jazz, modern to traditional.

In 2003, Martin’s choirs appeared in The Perth International Arts Festival in two concerts at the Perth Art Gallery and then as a combined 100 voice choir at the Festival's finale - singing Wagner to massed audiences on the Perth Esplanade with ‘Les Grooms’ a French Street Theatre Company.

In the 2004, the Sing From The Heart choirs again appeared in the Perth International Arts Festival with Martin conducting the 1,000 voice Journey Home Choir.

The Journey Home Choir sang pieces from the gospel, folk and classical repertoire - the highlight being the Largo from Dvorak's New World Symphony.

In 2005 Perth International Arts Festival, Martin once again conducted the 1,000 voice Journey Home Choir for Festival's official opening and for the opening concert - Opera in the Park. In conjunction with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and the West Australian Opera Company, the Journey Home Choir sang the finales from Mozart's Magic Flute to an audience of 50,000. Once again, the Sing From The Heart Choirs participated.
